Costa Rica Becomes The Locale For Gunfights And Ambushes
Gambling 911 the Costa Rica based online sportsbook information site reports that a gambling executive yet to be named, was assaulted and mugged in the capital city of San Pedro. At this time information indicates that the assaulted executive is in hospital, while any details of his identity are being kept from the press until his family can be notified.
Gambling 911 reports the victim as being the owner of one of the largest online gambling sites. He was beaten brutally and left for dead as the result of an botched attempted robbery on Monday afternoon. The assault began as his Landrover was ambushed by three assailants toting guns. This resulted in a gunfight with his bodyguards. The whole event can only be seen as reflecting the dangerous and criminal nature of the Costa Rican situation.
It is reported that the man is in serious condition in the hospital.
The 911 report maintains that in the past, Calvin Ayre of Bodog was held up in broad daylight. This took place in Costa Rica while he was accompanied by real estate agents and looking at new properties. At the time of that attack his bodyguard received a bullet in the shoulder. In yet another case of such attacks a partner of the now defunct MVP Sportsbook, was shot at while in his SUV in the upscale market Escazu area, and last spring, an associate of 911 associate was robbed and beaten while getting into an illegal "pirate" cab. At the time he received severe injuries to his leg. He is scheduled for extensive surgery next month.
