The jackpot of $821,670 was won in a game of Texas Hold'em poker on Wednesday, beating the $739, 621 jackpot at Party Poker that previously held the record for the largest in online poker history.Usually a “bad beat” is the term given to losing a poker hand against your opponent's far stronger hand. However, even when you lose, you can still win at Absolute Poker! All the Australian winner needed to do to claim the Bad Beat Jackpot was lose a poker game with four eights or better in hand.Bad Beat Jackpots are funded by the players at the site's poker tables. Just $0.50 is collected per player and put into the pot. Then it is simply a matter of finding the right hand and losing the right game to claim the winnings.Since the win, the Bad Beat Jackpot at Abolute Poker has been reset and currently holds $215,000. According to a spokesperson for the firm, David Clainer, the figure is already increasing by $2000 each hour, proving that a bad beat in poker just isn't what it used to be.
