iMEGA and Ogilvy Publicize the Fight againt the UIGEA
It would appear that the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA) is refusing to go down without a fight. To assist it with public relations in its battle against the US government over the validity of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), the firm has employed the services of New York company Ogilvy. Ogilvy, which is an internationally respected PR firm, is tasked with raising the profile of iMEGA before its federal court hearing scheduled for September 24.
Ogilvy's tactics are to highlight the effects of Antigua's fight against the US government at the World Trade Organization, and to demonstrate the affect on constitutional rights represented by the UIGEA. Its aim is to persuade American politicians from all backgrounds to support recent proposals to combat the UIGEA such as Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement Act.
Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has offices in Atlanta, Sacramento, Chicago, Denver, Cambridge, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco and New York, where its head office is located. It also has another 60 offices in major cities around the world including London, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and Bejing.
The firm has assisted in cultivating iMEGA's image as a concerned non-profit organization. iMEGA has stated that it seeks co-operative interactions with government departments and corporations on the behalf of citizens. Its goal is to facilitate the growth of the Internet, and to promote it as a medium for innovation and personal freedom.
