Bruce Stubbs Brings Significant Experience to New RoleBetfair, the web based gambling group, has announced the appointment of Bruce Stubbs who is an industry veteran, to the role of Director of Poker to take effect immediately. Stubbs, who was previously Paradise Poker’s marketing director has been involved with online poker since its beginnings, will be joining Betfair Poker immediately. Most recently Stubbs has served as the project manager for Betfair on the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair.com. In this position he has played a key role in making the tournament a success. He has most recently been involved in activities behind-the-scenes geared toward securing Betfair Poker’s high profile sponsorship of 19 year-old Annette Obrestad, the poker genius from Norway. Niall Wass, who is managing director for Betfair, has reported that the appointment is additional evidence that his company is taking their online poker business very seriously. Wass describes Bruce as possessing an impressive pedigree regarding online poker and says that he has already demonstrated that he can deliver results. Wass says that Betfair is looking forward to seeing how his appointment affects the development of his company’s poker strategy. At the same time, Stubbs is describing Betfair as being a unique organization that he has admired for some time. Stubbs say that he supports what Balfair supports and shares in its approach and views on how an online gaming site should operate and he says that he thinks that Betfair is in a unique position in being able to become a major player in the online poker segment of the gambling industry. Betfair Poker, which is licensed in and operates from Malta, began operations in May of 2004. Ben Fried will continue with Betfair Poker as the Head of Poker covering Great Britain and Ireland.
