In Both Britain And North America They Are Preparing For The University Poker ChampionshipsThis week the well known and successful University Poker Championship sponsored by Life of Sports Inc. is now being launched in the United Kingdom as well as throughout North America. In the United Kingdom Life of Sports Inc. is joining together with Cake Poker.com. In Canada and the U.S. they are partnering with Poker Stars.com for the free roll tournament format, which is carried out on a weekly basis. The University Poker Championship or UPC in Britain, may be attended by any college or university student living in the country. Among the prizes for which the participants will be competing is a grand prize including one year’s free tuition as well as a seat at the Main Event of the 2008 World Series of Poker to take place in Las Vegas in July 2008. At this event there is projected to be a prize package which is estimated to be approximately US$12,000. Bob Classen, Life of Sports Inc's Marketing Director has said that the upcoming tournament is the only one of its kind in the country in which participation in the qualifying events in it is absolutely and in which each student has the opportunity to win his or her tuition and to gain a seat at Las Vegas in next summer's World Series of Poker. Those participating in the event will be competing in a weekly free roll online tournament. The top three finishers for each of the weeks will be advanced to the April finals. In North America the UPC event is open to all college or university students who are residents of Canada or the United States. The prize for the grand prize winner will be free tuition as well as a free trip to Europe in order to play in a European Poker Tour event. This prize also includes the EPT tournament buy-in along with travel expenses. Carly Sawers speaking for Poker Stars.com has said that the company is excited to be involved in this EPT event since it will make available to students the opportunity to advance their education through the granting of free tuition in addition to providing them with the opportunity to visit Europe and to participate in one of the events of the European Poker Tour. The North American UPC may be described as an online free roll style tournament in which the participants compete on a weekly basis.
