Bill Being Put Forth By Congressman To Legalize Online Poker Gains Support Of New Jersey Congressman

The attempt by the congressman from Florida Robert Wexler, to make poker play in the United States legal was given a before Christmas nudge this weak by the New Jersey Congressman Representative Robert E. Andrews when he joined forces with Wexler by signing his proposal, making him the 21st to do so.

The bill that Wexler is putting forth which is named the HR 2610 Skill Games Exemption bill, has been progressively attracting support, although it has been possibly pushed into the shadows a bit by the bill being put forth by Congressman Barney Franks, the more all-encompassing Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement bill. His bill, the one being offered by Congressman Franks, is seeking to regulate and to license online gambling in general throughout the United States.

On the other hand, the bill being put forth by Congressman Wexler, HR2610 is designed to add poker as one of those games that would be on the exemption list of the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement bill.

The support by Congressman Andrews is of importance since Andrews is an experienced politician who is currently serving his tenth Congressional term,. Representative Andrews of New Jersey has served on various committees including that of Higher Education, and Lifelong Learning and Competitiveness,  and is currently the chairman of the committee on Education and Labor. Representative Andrews also serves as a member of the House Armed Services committee along with subcommittees on Oversight and Investigations, Terrorism and Unconventional Threats and is a member of the Budget Committee.
