The Greek Gambling Monopoly OPAP Shows Drop in Profits
OPAP which is the gambling monopoly being run by the government of Greece, has now begun to exhibit signs of charitableness. This year they donated Euro 25 million to victims of those wild fires that have ravaged the Greek countryside this summer.
This was revealed as a part of the third quarter results published by OPAP, which also reported a 12 percent fall in the company’s net profits down to Euro 112.1 million. The drop was explained as being the result of this one-time donation to the victims of the recent wild fires.
When the donation is not considered, the net profits for the quarter actually rose by 2.8 percent to Euro 130.8 million.
